Some of you might be too young to remember this, but… before MTV became a place that played snippets of music to transition between scenes of loosely scripted reality tv, they used to play music videos ALL DAY long. Like, whole songs and everything — just one music video after another. All. Day. Long. Ok, most of the day long. Plus commercials. But, still, it was pretty nice to have it on in the background if you weren’t sure what else to put on and you had the school holiday house/tv to yourself.

Well… MTV doesn’t play music videos all day anymore :(

But… that doesn’t mean watching music videos all day has to go away :)

In fact… there’s easier access to more music videos than ever before!

.

.

SO, HERE AT HI54 WE SAY:

If MTV (or MUCH MUSIC up here in the North) doesn’t want to run a stream of music videos all day for us, well… “F____ MTV” we'll do it ourselves \m/

And we’ll do it ourselves by continuing to add more & more music videos to this big ‘ol Youtube playlist that you can either press play on the player above (which will play the most recent additions one after the other) or follow over on Youtube (where you can throw it on shuffle because there are 100s of music videos in this ongoing Youtube playlist).

And since this collection of music videos can also be used as an alternative to turning on the radio, let’s make that “f*** MTV!” from earlier a little less agro and just call the whole idea ‘FM/TV’ instead.

So why don’t you make like a 90s kid & go run tell your “mother” that you’re feeling too sick to go into school/work today, and then just hang around the house with music videos playing all day? Because some things from the past are still cool to do, even if you’re old / not old.
